Choosing Your Beach: A Guide to Krabi's Wedding Locations
Krabi is not one beach. It is a coastline of very different places, and the one you choose shapes the entire feel of your day.
Railay Beach
The image most people have of Krabi: towering limestone karsts rising straight out of the sea, framing the sand on both sides. It is genuinely spectacular and photographs beautifully at any hour.
Railay is only reachable by longtail boat, which is part of its charm and also its main constraint. Every guest, every chair and every flower arrives by water, so timing has to be planned carefully around the tide.
- Best for: dramatic scenery and unforgettable photographs
- Consider: boat transfers for all guests, limited wheelchair access
Ao Nang
The most practical option. Ao Nang has the widest choice of hotels at every price point, restaurants within walking distance, and road access that makes logistics simple for larger guest lists.
The beach is busier and more public than the alternatives, so a sunset ceremony here is a celebration held in a lively place rather than a private one.
- Best for: larger groups, mixed budgets, guests who want things to do
- Consider: less privacy, especially in high season
Tubkaak and the northern beaches
Quieter, more refined, and looking out towards the Hong Islands. The resorts along this stretch are designed for exactly this kind of event, with lawns and private beachfronts that give you a ceremony space nobody else can wander into.
- Best for: privacy, elegance, couples who want a resort to handle logistics
- Consider: further from Ao Nang nightlife, higher venue minimums
Private island ceremonies
For a small group, chartering a boat to a beach on one of the outer islands gives you something no venue can: a stretch of sand that belongs entirely to you for a few hours.
- Best for: elopements and parties under 20
- Consider: weather-dependent, no backup shelter, strict timing
How to decide
Start with your guest count and how far you are willing to make people travel on the day itself. A group of twelve can go anywhere. A group of eighty needs road access and a venue with real infrastructure. Once that is settled, the choice usually narrows to two or three options very quickly.
